Our inherent creativity and resourcefulness as humans helps us get through challenging times— yet many of us don’t think of ourselves as particularly creative, and in this era of languishing, it can seem even harder to tap into our creative wellspring than usual.

More than ever, it’s critical that we honor and nurture our creative spirit: even the smallest creative act can be the fuel for social change, as we saw in 2020, when social isolation reignited a deeper connection to art as activism. Artists, cultural creatives, and movement makers worldwide took to the streets, airwaves and web to enliven a new, more connected and compassionate reality. Activism is at the core of how these leading artists develop their artistic expressions to inspire, drive impact, and create lasting change.

Challenge yourself to think differently in 2021 with inspiration from our panel of filmmakers, fine and street artists, and musicians -- all changemakers in their own right. Learn how to tap into your own creativity, explore how working with people who identify as artists can uplevel your game, and learn more about what it’s like to unite others on a massive scale by unleashing your creativity for good.

Match Studio Collaborative National Volunteer Week Artist: DJ Agana

Designed to highlight the role of art as advocacy, and advocacy and activism as two key expressions of modern volunteerism, Match Studio Collaborative provides a forum for artists of color to produce work that is then reproduced in highly accessible formats to fundraise towards a meaningful cause of each featured artist’s choice.

April's featured artist DJ Agana converges traditional large scale murals and contemporary street art by painting prolific imagery encompassing black liberation, women's empowerment, racial and environmental justice.

DJ Agana's artwork combines two great passions: graffiti art and environmental advocacy. Proceeds from DJ Agana's merchandise will go to a nonprofit close to her heart: Few and Far Women, an assemblage of women who beautify the streets with a shared commitment to creativity, education, and social justice.
